Our Story

Shortly after the start of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, Chelsey’s plans to return to guide on the Yoshino River in Japan were kyboshed and Ben’s teaching job at Outward Bound in Ontario was canceled. It was by chance that they both decided to jump on what seemed to be the only work available in the apocalypse and headed to the Fraser Valley to guide on the stunning Nahatlatch River.

As the world was shutting down, the hidden world of rural British Columbia prospered and our secluded staff community thrived with guests from Vancouver wanted to escape the burden of lockdowns and confusion. It wasn’t long before Ben and Chelsey connected on past work experiences, challenged by the same troublesome employers and curiosity about each other’s desirable worldly explorations.

By the end of the summer, their bond had developed into an exciting new business opportunity. With Ben’s history as an expedition photographer and outdoor teacher and Chelsey’s years assisting and instructing in a post-secondary multimedia program, Peak Adventure was born.

They spent the next few years developing the brand and reaching out to outdoor training and adventure tourism companies. Although they aligned with some fantastic new clients like Rescue 3 International and Great Canadian Heli-Skiing, they were surprised to have other prospects with adventurous branding needs, such as Love & Peace for All and Day2Day Books, approach them as well. Business boomed before winter even started.

Focused on their growth-oriented mindset, Ben and Chelsey spent the next few years enhancing their creative skills and learning how to handle business taxes and payroll. It wasn’t as easy as just creating a logo or exporting a video. They both carried the strain of progress until their knees buckled and their backs ached. Finally, in January 2025, they put a pause on their evolving empire to re-evaluate Peak’s business structure and narrow their direction to better align with the bigger vision.

Today, Peak continues to thrive as the focus shifts to re-align with what truly matters: connecting people with the outdoors and prioritizing safety to succeed in every adventure.
